What Happened?: Burnside wanted to beat Lee's Confederate army. On November 14th, Burnside sent a Corps the the nearby region of Falmouth by Fredericksburg. Lee put his army behind the town. then on December 11th, the Union engineer people laid down some bridges to get across the Rappahannock River. Lee opened fire. The Union crossed over on December 12th. the Union was marching aup a hill, while the Confederate army was well hiddin behind a wall. This caused the Union to have a lot of casualties. this happened a few times. On december 15th Burnside offered a truce, which Lee gladly granted it.
==Overall significance: Worst Union lost. Later causing the replacement of Gen. Burnside. ----
